All of us need encouragement and inspiration from time to time. When we’re battling issues surrounding compulsive eating it can be hard to go it alone. You can help.

By sharing your story of recovery in OA, you can show another sufferer that recovery is possible. Your experience, strength and hope can provide the bridge that others of us can cross on our own journey of recovery. It’s great service that helps others and yourself as together we “trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.”

A Formula for Sharing

If you’re at a loss of where to begin, consider following this simple formula to tell your story:

  • What it was like
  • What happened
  • What it’s like now

Requirements for Sharing

We want your story of recovery from the disease of compulsive eating in Overeaters Anonymous. You must be an active member of OA, preferably in the Denver and Central Colorado area but we’ll accept submissions from anywhere. Your story should reflect and honor the 12 Steps and Traditions of our program. In particular keep in mind Tradition 6,

“An OA group ought never endorse, finance or lend the OA name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.”

And Tradition 12,

“Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all these Traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.”

Submit Your Story

Include your name (first name and last name initial) or if you prefer to remain anonymous, simply enter “Anonymous” in the Name field. Include your email and, optionally, a phone number that we can use to contact you should we have questions, editing suggestions or require clarification on any points.

Use the “Your Story” field to add your story either directly or by cutting and pasting from another program, then click submit. After review we’ll publish it to the website.

If you have a problem submitting the form for any reason, you can provide the same information and email it to [email protected].
